A waterspider (Japanese: <\/strong>mizusumashi<\/strong><\/em>) is a dedicated support role in lean manufacturing responsible for keeping operators supplied with materials, tools, and information so they can focus exclusively on value\u2011added work.<\/strong> By handling non\u2011value\u2011added transport and replenishment tasks, the waterspider helps maintain continuous flow, reduce motion waste, and minimize downtime across the production line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like during surgery the assisting person is like a Water Spider, they allow the surgeon to perform the added value task with no distraction.<\/p>\n\n\n
